It is with great shock and sadness that we have to announce that our dear friend and loyal Europe colleague Tim Evans passed away suddenly on Wednesday 13th March after a short illness, surrounded by his family.
Tim was an indefatigable anti-Brexit and pro-Europe campaigner. He founded Surrey for Europe soon after the 2016 Referendum, which then morphed into NE Surrey for Europe founded 4th July 2019, campaigning for a People’s Vote. He inspired the local group which has been meeting weekly for over 6 years in Leatherhead – Mole Valley European Movement.
Just recently on 29th February 2024 he hosted the joint NES4EU / European Movement talk by Mike Galsworthy’s on “Building Bridges towards Europe” which is now available on Youtube. A fitting finale for a fine man.
Few could forget his amazing stunts riding around London dressed as a judge on the top of a double decker bus or as a bell-ringing Father Christmas in front of Parliament in 2019 “It’s a Ho Ho Hopeless Mess” chatting to Jon Snow.
As “Tim from Leatherhead” thousands of LBC listeners were challenged to think differently about Brexit and Europe.
Tim was unique, we shall all miss him dreadfully, but we can be inspired by his example and keep on campaigning for accountability and to rejoin the EU.
